POST GAME

So how do you shoot 50 percent and still lose?

Easy - have the other team shoot 77 percent from the free throw line.

That's how Meadowdale won this game, as they shot just 25 percent in the second half, but they connected on 73 percent of their free throws.

Another key stat - 23 points for Meadowdale off of 24 turnovers.

Eryn Jones lead all scorers with 25 points as she was 6/18 from the field but 13/13 from the line.

Gray scored 18 and grabbed 11 points while Vincent finished with 15 points.

Wood added 12.

Coronacion had 11 while Fjortoft added 10.

So that's it from this end. A short stay, but that insanely tough bracket didn't make it any easier for Bainbridge.

They'll still be in decent shape next year as Emily and Thomas leave while everyone else comes back for another year.

So until next year (maybe?) have a good one.

DAY 2 OF THE 3A STATE TOURNAMENT: THE FINAL COUNTDOWN

(copyright Brad Camp/Bainbridge Review)

So here we are: this is potentially the last game of the season for the Bainbridge girls basketball team.

They have another tough game against a familar opponent in Meadowdale this morning. They've gotten together several times in the past, most notably in 1999 when Bainbridge upset Meadowdale.

But the Mavericks have won the last two matchups, including last December's 85-67 victory.

I'm sure the gameplan will be simple: shut down Eryn Gray and make someone else beat you.

Your starters for Bainbridge this morning are Emily Farrar, Michael, Gray, Vincent and Wood.
Meadowdale starts Danica Coronacion, Julia Fjortoft, Jones, Anna Molitor and Alli Streit.

Back with the first update in a moment.

POST GAME - "HOW BOUT THAT? OUR SLEEPY LITTLE TOWN IS IN THE RECORD BOOKS"

Thanks to the Simpsons episode of "Dancin' Homer" for that line, as Bainbridge set records for lowest points in a game and largest margin of victory, as Riverside won by 57.

The stats aren't any prettier, as Bainbridge had more turnovers (30) than points (21).

Brittany Gray was the leading scorer for the Spartans with seven, but it was all at the line - she had no field goals. Everyone else had no more than two, as the Spartans shot just 19.4 percent from the field.

So they'll take on either Lakes or Meadowdale tomorrow. Neither team will be an easy out, as Lakes is up by one.

If nothing else comes up, I'll be back at 9 a.m. sharp tomorrow. Have a good one.

UPDATE 10

Everything's working for AR - Givens banks in a three.

Gienger puts the rest of her starters back in at the 4:46 mark. Both Farrars, Thomas, Sharar and McKenzie were on the floor for most of the fourth. Emily stays in.

Finally Bainbridge gets some points on the board as Gray splits her free throws at the 1:51 mark.

"Swim home safely!" the AR fans chant.

Emily sinks a jumper - her first points - with 45 seconds left.

It's a final - AR 78, BI 21.

Back in a minute.

UPDATE 9

Well, this one is pretty much over. Bainbridge has their bench in so they'll come back tomorrow at 9 a.m. for the loser of Lakes-Meadowdale.

If anything happens, I'll put it up. Otherwise, I'll check back in for any post game comments - that is, if they feel like talking after this one.

DAY 1 OF THE 3A GIRLS STATE TOURNAMENT: GOOD MORNING

Hopefully everyone's got their breakfast ready for this one.

I'm here live and in color at the arena with 39 minutes to gametime. I talked to assistant coach Nicole Hebner earlier and she said the girls are ready.

"They're awake, which is the most important thing," she said.

Several Auburn Riverside fans are already seated in the student section and I've seen several more wandering about.

Back in a few with any last minute news.

BACK WITH THE RESURRECTION

(copyright Brad Camp/Bainbridge Review)

It's that time again.

Another year has passed, but this time, the girls are taking center stage at Hec Ed this year.

Unfortunately they've got a big test ahead of them in the form of defending champs Auburn Riverside in the 9 a.m. game on Wednesday, which is dubbed the "Egg McMuffin" game.

So: can they pull off the upset? Or will they be sent to the consolation bracket?

Find out this Wednesday.
